10 Facebook Messenger tips and tricks
Facebook Messenger is undoubtedly one of the most popular messaging apps ever. And for that reason, Facebook is regularly adding new features into their Messaging app as an attempt to compete with other messaging apps like Snapchat and Skype. Therefore. there are plenty of features that just keep coming and you may find hard to catch up with them. Here are some Facebook Messenger tricks and tips you may not notice.
1. Play chess
If you find conversations too boring and you want something new to play with your friends, try playing chess. Facebook Messenger now allows you to play chess in the chat window. To start the game, just type @fbchess play and hit the Send button.
2. Send pictures of random cute animals
Just type @dailycute and send it in a chat thread and Facebook will send you a photo of a random adorable animal. However, this feature is only available for US users, and the biggest social network on Earth is expecting a wider rollout of the new feature this year.
3. Get third - party apps
Just press the three dots icon located above the message input field, you can will notice a list of plenty of third - party apps that can be integrated into Facebook Messenger. Most of these apps are free, and you can activate these apps and make your conversation more fun by adding some colorful icons and emoji.
4. Delete chat history
For some reasons, you don't want to see your conversations. You can delete them by heading to your phone’s Settings and in the Applications Management or Settings menu select Facebook Messenger to open it’s App Info screen, which offer you the ‘Clear Data’ and ‘Clear Cache’ options. If you log out before using these options, they will delete individual messages or conversations for individual chats and Group Chats, just like it was first installed on your device.
5. Change the chat colors
Facebook Messenger now allows you to change colors for each conversation thread. With a simple tap on the info button in the upper right of the chat and select Color > and you will be able to pick any colors you want for the conversation from the existing palette.
6. Change the conversation's emoji
If you don't like the Facebook's Like default emoji for each conversation, you can pick another one by heading to Info and select the ‘Emoji’ option. You can choose any an emoji that you find appropriate for your conversation. You can zoom in by pressing and holding the emoji icon.
7. Mute conversations
If you find your private conversation distracting or annoying, you can quickly mute its notifications. You can tap and hold on the conversation from Messenger’s history view, select the ‘Mute notifications’ option. Besides, you can choose how long you want to mute your conversations.
8. Delete a conversation
To delete a specific conversation, you can tap on the Menu button located in the upper right corner of the chat screen and in the Details menu and select ‘Delete conversation’ .
9. Manage message requests
When an user that is not your friend sends you a message and Messenger will put it into Messages requests box. You can easily manage it by going to Settings > People > Message Requests.
10. Add multiple Messenger accounts
The new feature allows you to stay logged in on two or more Facebook accounts at the same time. To do that, you can head to Settings > Account and select "+" icon in the upper - right corner to add another account.
