I was reading the news and found an interesting article that reminded me of a movie, Final Cut which stars Robin Williams. The long and short of the movie, without spoiling it, is that people can have memory implants placed inside of them and it will record their whole lives. The movie is quite different and thought provoking. Anyway, why did the article I read jog my own memory of this movie you ask? Well the article is about a tiny camera that is meant to be worn around the neck and capture images throughout an individual’s life. The camera is called the Vicon and was originally meant to help individuals with Alzheimer’s.
Vicon is now being marketed as a camera that can take a picture every 30 seconds and can store 30,000 of these images at a time on the one gigabyte memory. It is becoming useful to those who are considered “lifeloggersâ€. A “lifelogger†is dedicated to recording as much of their life as possible. As of right now, its retail value is approximately $820. This is by no means an implant in ones body that can record video for a person’s entire life, but it very well may be a first of the stepping stones that leads to such a device. You can read the article by clicking HERE.
