Xiaomi unveils Mi Drone
Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi today introduced its first ever drone. The new device is expected to attract a large number of customers this year thanks to its low cost. Tech analysts say that competition among big drone makers will be intense this year.
Xiaomi Mi Drone features a 3-axis stabilization gimbal, a 104-degree wide angle lens and handheld remote which has the option of attaching a smartphone for a live-feed view from the drone. The 1.080-camera drone is priced at 380 USD, while the 4K video model is priced at 460 USD, much cheaper than the current 4K video models from DJI and Yuneec, which are priced at 1.000 USD.
One of the selling points of the device is its modular design which allows users to replace its components. The new drone features a huge 5.100 mAh battery which can offer up to 27 hours of flight time.
Besides, Mi Drone includes GPS and Glonass support for accurate positioning outdoors. According to Xiaomi, the new device features a visual positioning system that allows it to remain stable when flying at low altitudes. The device also come equipped with full set of flights modes including takeoff, landing, return to home, waypoint navigation, and orbit.
