Yahoo launches Yahoo Esports mobile app
Yahoo has been struggling to survive in the business. Last month, Yahoo said that the company would sell its core business including advertising technology, email and search businesses.
According to sources, Yahoo has received more than 10 bids for its core business. Some notable bidders include Microsoft, DailyMail, Verizon and many more. However, Yahoo is not dead yet. Sunnyvale-based company has just launched a new mobile app called Yahoo Esports, which includes live tournament broadcast coverage, news, highlights, and league scores for some major game competitions: League of Legends, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: GO, Heroes of the Storm and Street Fighter V.
The app offers card-based interface that is easy for users to navigate and leave comments on new stories. Besides, you can enable notifications to receive live matches as well as score updates.
According to tech experts, Yahoo Esports will help Yahoo bolster the company's declining business following the disappointing 2015 financial results. Yahoo has been rumored to focus more on other potential sectors to make more profit this year. Sources say that Yahoo is willing to invest thousands of dollars on Esports this year, as the Esports market is expected to hit 1.1 billion USD by the end of 2019.
